Graham Greene – Doctor Fischer of Geneva (or the Bomb Party)

I love Graham Greene – I discovered him through Donnie Darko, where there’s a reference to one of his stories. I read it and it blew my mind, as did a lot of his novels, ‘entertainments‘ and plays.

Doctor Fischer is a bastard, a man who has nothing left to live for except his intense hatred of humanity. He organises a bomb party, where he tests the extremes that the greedy rich will go to so that they can extend their wealth further.

This is an excellent short novel that accomplishes more in 150 pages than many do in 500. I just wish I had more words left so I could tell you all about it!
