R. L. Stine – Deep in the Jungle of Doom

Deep in the Jungle of Doom is a Give Yourself Goosebumps book, which means that it takes the form of a ‘Choose Your Own Adventure‘ book. Basically, the reader is given choices, and they have to flick through the book to the right page to see what happens to them.

In this book, there are around 20 different endings, which means that it’s a lot of fun with a lot of possibility. Here, you find yourself in the middle of the jungle, and when you eat a delicious-looking piece of fruit, you turn into a monster. Your goal is to get back to normal. Buy the book to see if you make it!

R. L. Stine – Beware of the Purple Peanut Butter

This book was a little different, because it’s a choose your own adventure style book – in fact, Stine styled it ‘Give Yourself Goosebumps‘, and I’m sure you would if you were seven years old.

I’m too old for this sort of stuff, but that didn’t stop me from reading it after my ex-housemate moved out and left a bunch of books around. You get to choose what you want to do by turning to the appropriate page – clever readers keep their previous page open, just in case something goes wrong. There are over twenty endings to choose from, in a plot that sees you shrink and try to get back to normal.
