William Shakespeare – Romeo and Juliet

Romeo and Juliet is my favourite of all of Shakespeare’s plays, and I’ve been lucky enough to see several performances of it. I also know the prologue off by heart – we were forced to memorise it at school, but I’m glad that we did.

I won’t go into the story, because everyone knows it already – it’s a tragedy, but it’s a beautiful tragedy, and it’s one that everyone in the world should read and enjoy. The good thing about Shakespeare’s work is that it can be read and enjoyed by all ages, although if you’re an adult then you’re more likely to understand some of the more difficult language.

Language isn’t too much of a problem in Romeo and Juliet though – it’s just a cracking love story.
