Yeah, I know, another Horrible Histories book. Surprise, surprise. I’m nearly at the end of the box set now, and I did actually quite enjoy this one, I think I’m just a little jaded now from reading so many of them back to back.
The Victorians were fascinating though, and I learned a bunch of stuff here that I hadn’t heard from other sources. I also liked the little nods to classical Victorian literature and the stories about Sweeney Todd. Deary’s writing is easy to read as a kid or as an adult, and there is something there in these books that keeps me going back to them. Perhaps it’s just the nostalgia, but I think these are books that both parents and kids enjoy.
