Title: The Book of the Goons
Author: Spike Milligan
Page Count/Review Word Count: 146
This is one of the many books out there that act as a companion to the Goon Show, a piece of British comedy history that’s mostly passed me by, although I have read a decent amount of Spike Milligan. Funnily enough, at around the same time that I got my hands on this, I also found a vinyl of the Goon Show.
There’s a lot of funny stuff going on and perhaps the best of all were the little letters and telegrams from one Goon to another, which they wrote in character. The only downside is that I couldn’t remember which alias was which and so I had no idea who was actually writing each of them. Fun times, though.
