I’ve been meaning to read some of Karin Slaughter’s work for a while now because my mum and my gran are fans of hers and so are a few people that I watch on YouTube. I’d also heard that she writes female friendships well, and that was certainly the case here.
It’s basically a gritty crime novella that reminded me a little bit of The Grownup by Gillian Flynn at times, although I think I prefer Slaughter if this book is anything to go by. Of course, there are trigger warnings for pretty much everything, but I still thought it was worth reading and a decent introduction to her work. Now I’ll have to read some more of it!
