Title: Locke and Key: Welcome to Lovecraft
Author: Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez
Page Count/Review Word Count: 168
This is the first instalment in the six issue collection of Locke and Key that I picked up for my birthday. Joe Hill has rapidly become one of my favourite writers, in part because my girlfriend likes him too and so we read him together, and indeed she’s already on issue three because she’s been reading them ahead of me.
What’s interesting here is that it still has the feel of a Joe Hill book, and so you can expect your fair share of horror and brutality. At the same time, it’s just a well-written story that could only really exist in the form of a graphic novel. He’s proved himself to be a master of many formats throughout his career, and I look forward to whatever comes next. Bring on the rest of the series.
