Title: Sonny’s Blues
Author: James Baldwin
Page Count/Review Word Count: 92
I’ve always liked books about drugs, and Sonny’s Blues fits the bill for that. At the same time, it investigates racial and socioeconomic inequality in the way that only James Baldwin was able to pull off.
This collection also includes The Rockpile and Previous Condition, but Sonny’s Blues is still the standout story. Out of all of the little Penguin mini classics that I’ve picked up recently, this one is the best.
