This is the first time since I started reading the Oz series (as a buddy read with Joel Swagman) that I’ve wondered what I’ve got myself into. It just didn’t have the same magic as the other books, at least for me, and by this point it’s starting to feel a little bit formulaic.

The main saving grace was the love magnet, although not because it was actually a good part of the plot. It just made me laugh every time I read it because it sounded like a cheesy nickname that a middle-aged white man would give to himself. And so from this point forward, I’d appreciate it if you called me the Love Magnet.

It was still okay, it’s just that it wasn’t as good as I was expecting, especially after the high quality of the other books in the series. Eh.
