I’ve somehow never actually read The Chronicles of Narnia books before, although I did pick up The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe as a kid. I never finished it. I’m not sure why though, because I enjoyed this book at least and I’m looking forward to reading the rest of them, even if they are a bit “Christian”, as they put it on That Mitchell and Webb Look.
This one basically does the job of setting up the rest of the series and I found it a pretty accessible starting point. In fact, it reminded me of some of Enid Blyton’s work and I could totally see why you might enjoy reading this if you were a child. It even gave me Final Fantasy VII vibes when the two kids were climbing along the rafters between houses. It’s just a pretty good adventure story, if nothing else. And I had fun.
