Title: Dune: The Graphic Novel: Book Two
Author: Brian Herbert, Kevin J. Anderson, Raul Allen and Patricia Martin
Page Count/Review Word Count: 170
This is the second of three graphic novels that Herbert and Anderson have collaborated with Allen and Martin on to bring the original Dune by Frank Herbert to life. They do a really good job with it, and you can tell that it’s a labour of love for everyone involved.
I think that my particular favourites here were when they illustrated the desert and things like the sandworms, which just looked badass in graphic novel form. Sandworms are so insanely huge (and terrifying) that it sometimes feels as though it’s not actually possible to imagine them, so having a visual version to look at helps to bring them to life.
All in all, this was a cracking continuation and I can’t wait to get to the third and final instalment. And there’s more, too!
