I usually enjoy reading Agatha Christie, but this one just fell short of the mark for me. Perhaps that was because there was no sign of either Hercule Poirot or Miss Marple, but I think the truth is just that it failed to grab my interest from the start and so I ended up just reading it to finish it, rather than because I was invested in the story. Half of the time I had no idea what was going on.

It probably also didn’t help that my edition was quite old, with small print that made it difficult to read. The writing itself was okay, and there was at least one good character that I did enjoy, but I thought this was far from Christie at her best and I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re a big fan of hers.

I gave it a 3/5 because Christie at her worst is better than most at their best. But I like my Christie books to be 4* or above.
