Well, here’s an interesting one – in some ways, this reminded me of Paper Souls by Allie Burke, despite the fact that Fight Club came first. Perhaps I should’ve read them in chronological order, but no matter – they’re both about as good as each other, albeit for entirely different reasons, and at least with Paper Souls you can guarantee that you didn’t watch the movie first. They’re totally different stories by totally different authors, but with a common theme which I invite you to find out for yourself because if I tell you what it is, it’ll ruin the plot of both novels.
I haven’t seen the movie of Fight Club yet, but that’s because I’ve been avoiding it because I wanted to read the book first. I’m so glad that I did – the amount of character development that Palahniuk stuffs into his story-line must be impossible to replicate on-screen, and the gore of fight club and Project Mayhem was more realistic in my head than it could be in any movie. But I’ll still watch it, though.
Damn it, this review breaks the first rule of fight club.
